Headlines - 8.4.9

Good morning Packers Fans!
Spoke with FG on the phone about an hour ago from 'The Cabin' line - Yeah, FG has a phone at the cabin; what has the world come to??? He says they are having too much fun catching monster pike, but that he plans on coming home on Thursday since he needs to catch up on the Green and Gold. "Tell the readers I'll have some good stories for them in my Season Preview column," says FG. There you have it.

Now to the headlines for August 4...

Lori Nickel at the JS has a good story up on oft-injured former first rounder Justin Harrell. "The fact that (he) is even out here, the first week of training camp - healthy and limber and fighting for a job - is nothing short of a miracle," writes Lori. No kidding. The solution? Well, to a degree, luck, and get this - acupuncture. I guess the lesson is always be open to new ideas.

Also from JS, Tom Silverstein writes about LB Desmond Bishop. "Nobody on defense has proved to be more physical or more improved since camp opened than the 6-2, 238-pound Bishop." Keep your eyes on this guy as the 3-4 takes shape, folks. He's a blitzer! "I think I have a knack for blitzing. I think I always have," Bishop said.

Tom also dissects the OLB battle between Jeremy Thompson and rookie Clay Matthews. That will be an interesting competition in camp.

On the offensive side of the ball, the GBPG has a story on TE Jermichael Finley. Expect big things from the kid this season. Big things.

From the blogosphere:

PackersLounge discusses the 'rumor' that the Packers have an interest in Michael Vick. This won't happen, but I only highlight this due to the first comment, which asks: "Can Vick Punt?"

Can any of you punt? We really need a decent punter.
OK, back to work.
